Meet Dr. Wilson

Dr. Michael Wilson specializes in providing comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations and treatment planning for adults at all stages of life. He is especially passionate about working with older adults and individuals with chronic neurodevelopmental, neurological, and medical conditions.

After receiving his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2016, Dr. Wilson completed his neuropsychology-focused clinical internship at the Minneapolis Veterans Affairs Polytrauma/TBI Rehabilitation Center in 2016, and his postdoctoral fellowship in clinical neuropsychology at the Baltimore VA Medical Center in 2018.

Dr. Wilson worked as a full-time staff neuropsychologist at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in Chicago from 2018-2021. He has continually worked in private practice since 2022. Dr. Wilson is actively working towards the prestigious American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) certification in clinical neuropsychology, after successfully passing the ABPP written examination in 2024.

He has more than a decade of experience providing neuropsychological evaluation, consultation, and intervention services for diverse patient populations across clinical settings including: emergency medical departments; interdisciplinary rehabilitation facilities; primary and specialty health clinics; inpatient psychiatric units; outpatient mental health and counseling centers; and forensic and public safety settings.

Dr. Wilson strives to provide feedback of evaluation results in a way that is accessible and understandable to all clients and referral sources. He has spent the past decade refining the art of writing efficient, focused, consumer-oriented reports that maximize readability and minimize jargon, in order to facilitate effective communication of findings and recommendations. Dr. Wilson also prides himself on being readily available to clients and referral sources for any consultation needs after the formal evaluation process is complete.

Dr. Wilson is a strong proponent of a therapeutic and collaborative approach to neuropsychological evaluation. He believes that clients should find the evaluation process to be not only informative, but also interesting, validating, and beneficial. Dr. Wilson emphasizes the importance of understanding client goals at the start of every consultation, including determining what specific questions that clients would like to have answered before any formal assessment is conducted.
